Change the world

25/08/2011

The Director of Innovation Support and Technology Transfer, Jacqueline Barnett, hosted two Grade 11 learners from Linkside High School on Thursday, 25 August 2011 for the Business Woman’s Association of South Africa’s “Businesswomen of Tomorrow” inaugural event.

The event forms part of the BWA PE Youth Outreach Project and aims to empower, motivate and expose young female learners to a day in the life of a career woman. The learners, Linda-Ann Van Heerden and Maryka Van Der Merwe, spent the day with Jaci observing and learning about activities at the Technology Transfer Office. They got the opportunity to sit in a meeting between a patent attorney and an academic, and attended a seminar on Intellectual Property.

The BWA arranged for 85 Grade 11 learners from Linkside High School to spend the day with a variety of companies across Port Elizabeth.
